By a Feminist to Feminists
Simone Lucie-Ernestine-Marie-Bertrand de Beauvoir, born January 9, 1908 in Paris, died April 14, 1986 in Paris, was a French intellectual, author, philosopher, existentialist and feminist. Beauvoir's philosophy is usually described as a mixture of atheist existentialism and phenomenology, and is largely about ethics and the question of how to relate to their fellow human beings. Her life mate, with which she made many trips, was Jean-Paul Sartre, another existentialist. They are buried side by side at the Montparnasse Cemetery in Paris.
