Meena Keshwar Kamal born February 1956 in Kabul, Afghanistan, died in 1987. Meena was an Afghan political activist, feminist and women's rights activist.
In 1977, she founded the Revolutionary Association of Women of Afghanistan, a women's organization aimed at involving Afghan women in both political and social activities. ""Give voice to the poor and silent women in Afghanistan"" In 1981, she launched a feminist magazine, Payam-e-Zan (Women's Message), focusing on women's rights. Over time, it became an important source of news about politics and society. Today it is an online magazine at www.rawa.org
Her active social work and effective advocacy against the views of the fundamentalists and puppet regime, triggered the anger of the Russians and the fundamentalist forces, and she was murdered by KHAD agents (Afghanistan branch in KGB) in Quetta, Pakistan, February 4, 1987.
Meena gave 12 years of her short life to fight for women in her native country.
