Description

Lucía after:
Lucía Sánchez Saornil (1895 - 1970) Lucía was a Spanish poet, militant anarchist and feminist. She was one of the founders of the female anarchist movement - Mujeres Libres (Free Women) which had as many as 30,000 members in 1938. Lucía began writing poetry at an early age and then studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in San Fernando. She wrote under the male pseudonym Luciano de San Saor, which allowed her to explore lesbian themes at a time when homosexuality was criminalized and subjected to censorship and punishment.
