Description

Judith after:
Judith Butler, born February 24, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio, is an American professor of rhetoric and literature at the University of California in Berkeley. Butler claims that human gender and sexuality are constituted and constantly constructed by the language. Judith Butler argues that our knowledge of our own and others' bodies does not come through a natural process, but is constructed. These are psychosocial norms that materialize "women" or "men". With Butler's terminology, our dual-sex system has its foundation in a heterosexual melancholy that impedes cross-border identifications and forces us to look at "man" and "woman" as binary opposites.
