Angela Yvonne Davis, born January 26, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama, is an American feminist, university teacher, author and activist for civil rights.
Angela Davis was most famous during the 1960s when she was an activist for civil rights. She was at that time a member of the US Communist Party and in the Black panthers. Davis is, among other things, highly critical of the prison system in the United States.
