Gloria Steinem, born March 25, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio, is an American feminist and journalist who became a leading voice for the second wave's feminism in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She was the chronicle of the New York magazine and founder of Ms. Magazine. In 1969, she published an article, ""After Black Power, Women's Liberation, which made her known in the United States as a leader of the feminist movement. In 2005 Steinem founded Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan Women's Media Center, an organization aimed at visualizing and giving women power in the media Steinem now travels around the world as an organizer and a lecturer and is a spokesman for equality issues.
